Characters.xls can be downloaded by clicking the button below:
This is a spreadsheet that list all of the characters in the ASCII series and the ANSII series (i.e. characters 0 to 255) in Arial, Symbol and Wingdings. Non-printable characters are listed too.
- System requirements
- Microsoft Excel
- Using the spreadsheet
- The number of each character is listed along side the character itself.
- The left hand column contains either the non-printable characters or the name of the font.
- The spreadsheet will print out onto three sheets of landscape A4 paper
- If you like, you can use the numbers shown to insert the characters into
your own document. To do this, follow these steps:
- If using Symbol or Wingdings, make sure that the correct font is selected in the application that you wish to insert the character.
- Make sure num lock is on.
- Hold down alt.
- Type in the number of the character on the num pad including any leading zeros.
- Release alt
